Fire Science: Best of the Best
Fire Science invites HSHMC students to support them this Saturday, May 6th, as they defend their title as 'Best of the Best' at the Poway Fire Training Facility (12335 Crosthwaite Circle Poway, CA). Permission slips are available from the front desk. The bus will depart the school at 9:10am and return at 2:45pm.

Cinderella's Attic

Cinderella's Attic is a non-profit organization that provides high school girls with free formal wear for their prom and other special events. Their mission is to build confidence and self-esteem in young women by providing free formal dresses and accessories for special events that they might not otherwise have been able to experience. Cinderella's Attic hosts the seasonal Cinderella's Attic Prom Boutique™ and partners with like-minded organizations to support formal events.

Health Sciences High and Middle College is proud to be a recipient of the 2015 California Gold Ribbon Schools Award.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson said the receiving schools "are academically successful, vibrant, and innovative centers of learning and teaching. They provide great examples of the things educators are doing right - embracing rigorous academic standards, providing excellence and creativity in teaching, and creating a positive school climate."

Final HSHMC Blood Drive of the 2014-15 School Year

The last Blood Drive of the year will be held on Wednesday, May 6th from 8:30 - 2:30.

Every donor will be entered into a raffle. Prizes include (2) $25 Amazon gift cards, (6) movie tickets and (4) Blood Bank t-shirts.

How do I earn a red cord to wear at graduation?

Students who would like to earn a red cord to wear at graduation will need to donate 5 times or bring on 5 people to donate (who don't attend or work at HSHMC).

Who can donate?

-Students who are 15 or 16 can donate with parent permission every 6 months (permission slips are at the front desk)

-Students 17 and up can donate without parent permission

-Must weigh more than 114lbs and feel healthy

Blood Drive

Next Wednesday, February 25th, HSHMC is hosting a blood drive in partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank. It will run from 8:00 am to 1:30pm. To signup to donate please visit www.sandiegobloodbank.org, click on "Donate Blood", select "appointments" and provide the sponsor code: HSHS.

A permission slip is required for 15 & 16 year olds only. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please contact Ms. Kroener at jkroener@hshmc.org.

Our New Year's resolution for 2015 is that this becomes the year our school/home partnership grows into something that is powerful and has unlimited possibilities. Dear HSHMC Families, although San Diego Unified has decided to reopen some schools tomorrow, due to air quality and family transportation issues, Health Sciences High and Health Sciences Middle Schools will REMAIN CLOSED TOMORROW, Friday, May 16. We will see everyone at 8:00 am Monday morning. Stay safe and cool. CIF has cancelled all sports and practices for Friday May, 16th as well. SENIORS: PROM IS STILL ON. Please remember to arrive at the Embarcadero to the Hornblower ready to board by 5:30 pm. The boat leaves promptly and will not wait for late arrivals. We will return at 10:00 pm.
