We are holding our final blood drive of the year tomorrow from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. We hope you will consider coming by to donate. Please contact Ms. Rivas at the front desk if you are interested in making an appointment to participate.


Seniors will be taking their cap and gown pictures this Wednesday, May 15 from 8:00 – 10:30 am


Both our high school 11th graders and all middle school students will be taking California's Smarter Balanced assessment tests this week (beginning on Wednesday). To support their success, please be sure your child is getting a good night's rest and has a healthy breakfast before arriving to school on time.


We hope you are planning to join us this Thursday, May 16, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for an exciting evening as our students showcase their learning and experiences from their internships and regular or college classes. This is the last of three very special Student Showcase Evenings that gives our students an opportunity to showcase their college and career experiences to family, friends, and community partners and allows all of us to celebrate their hard work from throughout the year.


A group of our high school students will be going to see the play "Pride and Prejudice" this Wednesday evening. Students attending brought home a permission slip for your approval which must be returned before they can attend. The bus will leave from HSHMC at 4:30 pm.


Saturday School is scheduled this Saturday, May 18, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please be sure to send your child to Saturday School if they have missed a day of school. Students must stay the entire time to get credit for their absence.

Our 11th grade students will begin taking California's Smarter Balanced assessment tests this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday. To support their success, please be sure your child is getting a good night's rest and has a healthy breakfast before arriving to school on time.


This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and our Parent Advisory Committee will be offering our staff a wonderful breakfast on Wednesday. If you are still interested in contributing a small donation to cover the expenses, please send in $5-$10, or whatever you are able, in a sealed envelope to HSHMC's front desk by this Wednesday, May 8th.


We hope you are planning to join us this Thursday, May 9, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for an exciting evening as our FireScience, EMT, and Police Academy students showcase their learning and experiences. This is the second of three very special Student Showcase Evenings that gives our students an opportunity to showcase their college and career experiences to family, friends, and community partners and allows all of us to celebrate their hard work from throughout the year.


Senior Grad Nite Tickets are on sale for $100 per person. Grad Nite is at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Seniors will leave from HSHMC on Thursday, June 6 at 8:00 pm and return to school on Friday morning June 7 by 7:30 am.
If you have not already done so, it is time to register your child for the 2019-2020 school year at HSHMC. By now, you should have received either an email or a letter with instructions to register online. If you need assistance, in person support is available at the school Tuesdays through Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm. You can just come by or call 619-528-9070 for an appointment if these times do not work for you.

This week is Spirit Week at HSHMC! We look forward to everyone dressing up and joining in on the fun. Today (Monday) is Hawaiian Day. Tomorrow is Twin Day, Wednesday is Wild West Day, Thursday is Class Color Day – 9th grade is blue, 10th is green, 11th is red and 12th is yellow; and Friday is Pajama Day!


We hope you are planning to join us tomorrow evening (Tuesday) from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm as our Education Pathway, HOSA, and Community Connections students showcase their learning and experiences. This is the first of three very special Student Showcase Evenings that gives our students an opportunity to showcase their college and career experiences to family, friends, and community partners and allows all of us to celebrate their hard work from throughout the year.


This Thursday, May 2, at 5:30 pm, HSHMC is pleased to offer a one-hour info session for parents entitled "The Teenage Brain." We hope you will consider joining us as we explore why our teenagers' brains cause them to think and act the way they do!!

Senior Prom is this Friday, April 26 on the Hornblower Cruise Boat, the Adventurer. Prom attendees need to arrive at 5:00 pm for a 5:30 departure. The boat will not wait for late arrivals. The boat will return to the dock for pick up promptly at 10:00 pm.

HSHMC will be hosting three very special Student Showcase Evenings. Each of these evenings gives our students an opportunity to showcase their college and career experiences to family, friends, and community partners and allows all of us to celebrate their hard work from throughout the year. We hope you will join us for the first of these very special evenings as our Education Pathway, HOSA, and Community Connections students showcase their learning and experiences next Tuesday, April 30 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

Please join us this Thursday 4/11, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, for our Second Annual Family Art and Literacy Night. Join your child for dinner and a special evening filled with art, literacy, games, prizes, and family fun! Please RSVP for this event on our website at www.hshmc.org.

Art & Literacy Night RSVP

Is your child interested in playing volleyball or want to improve their skills while having fun with their peers? If so, they can attend any or all of our volleyball club skills clinics this spring. The skills clinics will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30PM at the Copley YMCA through May 30th. All high school students are welcome to attend. No experience is necessary but students must wear proper athletic clothing. For any questions, please contact Mrs. Matuk or Mr. O'Connell.


Quarter 3 progress reports are being mailed out this week, along with information about several upcoming events and summer school. In the meantime, please encourage your child to attend tutoring at lunch, afterschool, and at Saturday school to clear any incompletes.

We hope you and your family had a wonderful spring break. It was wonderful to welcome back all of our students this morning!

Our next Parent Advisory Meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, April 4 at 5:30 pm. Please join in with other HSHMC parents as we review this year's events and begin planning a calendar of family events for next year. Dinner will be served.

Speaking of family event, we hope you will plan to join us next Thursday, April 11 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm for our Second Annual Family Art and Literacy Night. To continue to inform and involve families in our efforts to design the most exciting, engaging and effective education for our student body, we invite you parents and guardians to take our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) survey. The survey and more information about the LCAP can been found on our website at www.hshmc.org. Your opinion matters. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to visit our site and take the survey.
30 of our HSHMC National honor society students will be heading for Chicago this Thursday to join more than 2500 students from all over the nation as they come together to develop their skills and grow as leaders.
Another 72 students from our Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) chapter will be heading off to Sacramento next week for the Cal-HOSA State Leadership Conference. Students who compete at this conference and place will have an opportunity to move on to the HOSA National Conference in Florida this June.
There is a track and field meet this Thursday at Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley at 3:30 pm. Our runners would love you to come out and cheer them on.

There is no school next week during spring break from Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29. School will resume on Monday, April 1. Please note that there will be no Saturday School this Saturday, March 23 or next Saturday, March 30 due to Spring Break. The next Saturday school is scheduled on April 6, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please plan now and be sure to send your child to Saturday School if they have missed a day of school. Students must stay the entire time to get credit for their absence.

Our yearbook club fundraiser continues this week as we collect Pennies for Patients to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Our goal is to raise $1000 by collecting money (coin/bills) every day through the end of this week during 2rd period. Each 2rd period classroom is competing for the most money raised with the 1st place winner receiving a pasta lunch party and cookie parties for 2nd and 3rd place class winners. Please encourage your child to donate any coins they have laying around the house, in backpacks, cars, etc.

A group of our high school students will be going to see the play "Angels in America" this Wednesday evening. Students attending brought home a permission slip for your approval which must be returned before they can attend. The bus will leave from HSHMC at 4:30 pm. Given the length of the play, the bus will not return to HSHMC until 11:00 pm.
